Collect your neighboring rights revenues from Public Broadcasting, Public Performances and Online Media usage of your music. If the recordings that you own are being broadcasted in public, then you are generating neighboring rights royalties and Kanjian can help you tap into those sources.
We collect your Neighboring Rights revenues in Mainland China. As of June 1st 2021, China passed a new legislation recognising the value of neighboring rights. Kanjian Music has secured a deal with CAVCA, the national body for the administration and collection of such rights, to ensure new revenue opportunities for its partners in Mainland China.
Despite the breakthrough, it is important to stress that due to the dynamics of the Chinese music industry, certain collection criteria greatly differ from the Western practice: in fact, audio files are a mandatory requirement for the administration and collection of Neighboring Rights as well as the metadata required are more specific
The music industry in China has experienced incredible growth in recent years and is now the 5th largest market in the world. With over 1.4 billion people, China is a massive opportunity for artists, labels, and publishers looking to expand their reach and generate revenue.
We are able to claim the publishing royalties from DSPs directly, including where we do speak on behalf of the 100% share.
For example, if we are licensed only a 4% of a composition/lyrics, the DSP will pay to us the 4% to Kanjian and the remaining percentage to MCSC or accordingly to any third parties administrating the works.
Territory: Greater China
Royalties: 60% from the revenue generated (no annual or setup fees)
We provide music synchronisation services. If we sign a sync agreement we can represent your music for TV, movies, video games and other licensing opportunities. We will always ask permission before using your track for major sync opportunities.
Prices are negotiated on a case-by-case basis or where possible with a minimum price-tag for an automated sale. Major syncs will not be authorized without the client’s prior consent and we would need the license for both master and publishing rights.
Our strategic partnership deals with China’s top agents providing background music services allow us to make your content available for selection to be played in hotels, department stores, supermarkets, and many other sites.
